City of the Day - Lincoln, NE

The City of Lincoln, meaning "Salt Village", for Salt Creek, which was the historical center of the city) is the capital and the second most populous city of the U.S. state of Nebraska. Lincoln is also the county seat of Lancaster County and the home of the University of Nebraska. The population was 225,581 at the 2000 census.

Water News

An Environmental Working Group analysis of tap water tests from 1998 through 2003 shows that customers of City of Lincoln Water drank water containing up to 28 pollutants, including 4 unregulated contaminants. City of Lincoln Water is one of 65,000 water suppliers across the country wrestling with treating water polluted by sprawl, sewage, factory farms, and industry.
